I love both of these videos and I think they both demonstrate extreme situations of teaching. In Harry Potter, Dolores Umbridge tells Harry that he is lying about seeing lord Voldemort. In him repeating this she makes him go to detention where there is clearly physical abuse. She does not want Harry's voice to be heard and wants to make him feel he is unimportant. What I love about in Freedom Writers Ms. G starts out with a class that does not respect her. She constantly works hard to make the students feel like they are important, and appreciated. In this scene the students believe they cannot make it without her and she reminds them they are able to. She also tells them that they have a voice and that it matters. I also really enjoy Ms. G's teaching style as many may see it as strict some times, but she is also constantly caring and wishes for them all to do their best. I think these are both super important to think about in how what you do, and say will effect the way your students think of their importance. Also they both deal with "troubling" Students in very different ways and it is very important to think of how you will deal with the students that may be difficult. Will you abuse them in some way meaning to or not meaning to? Or will you build them up to help them reach their full potential.
